Couture Chic or Off-the-Shelf Attitude -- Dressing for a Green Wedding
Go organic :: go vintage :: go sustainable
We will be monitoring whether any of the large wedding dress manufacturers will be offering a sustainable wedding attire line. Meanwhile, it looks like most of the choices are offered by small and custom designers. Some designers will be selling through bridal salons. (Armani created a line of fabulous tuxedos back in the late 1990's and we'll see if he ramps this up again.)
Vintage is another option. Meanwhile, we will be keeping our eye out downtown Los Angeles and let you know what we find in the off-the-rack market.
The fit is so critical for both men and woman. The fabric must work for formal wear.
What about silk? It is a "natural' fiber, after all. Are most of the silk dresses sustainably manufactured? This is another area we'll be investigating.
